Affiliate Link Tracking

Affiliate link tracking is the practice of routing affiliate URLs through a short-code redirect that logs every click — capturing timestamp, referrer URL, user-agent, and geographic region — so creators can measure which posts drive revenue.

Without affiliate link tracking, a content creator running an affiliate marketing campaign has no idea which post, which platform, or which audience segment is responsible for any commission earned. The affiliate network reports total commissions but not the attribution back to individual content pieces.

A short-code tracker solves this. Inside Creatara, a creator pastes their raw affiliate URL into Affiliates → New Link. The platform generates a short code (e.g. creatara.ai/r/coffeemaker) that 301-redirects to the original affiliate URL. Every time a user clicks the short code, the redirect captures:

- Click timestamp (UTC, recorded to the millisecond) - Referrer URL (which post or platform sent the click) - User-agent (browser and device class) - Country and region (from IP geolocation) - Whether the click converted (if the affiliate network supports server-to-server postback)

For per-post attribution, each scheduled Creatara post gets a unique sub-code suffix (e.g. /r/coffeemaker-p123) so the dashboard can show exactly which post drove which click.

Integrations: native postback support for Impact, ShareASale, CJ, Awin, and Amazon Associates. Generic postback URL accepted for any other network exposing one.

Compliance: every short-code redirect carries an attached disclosure when the destination is detected as an affiliate domain. Creatara auto-inserts the FTC/ASA-compliant disclosure block at the top of the post; creators can override per-post if their network requires specific wording.
